Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before traveling with us — from booking and visas to what to expect on the ground.

Booking & Payment

Browse our tours, fill out the contact form, or email us directly. Our travel designer will reach out within 24 hours to discuss your preferences, dates, and any customizations. Once everything is confirmed, a 30% deposit secures your booking.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express via Stripe, as well as bank transfers. For travelers already in China, we also accept Alipay and WeChat Pay.

Free cancellation up to 30 days before departure (full refund minus a 3% processing fee). 15–29 days: 50% refund. Within 14 days: no refund, but we can reschedule your trip to a later date. We strongly recommend travel insurance.

All payments are processed through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment provider. We never store your credit card details on our servers.

Every tour is fully customizable. Change the duration, swap activities, upgrade hotels, add destinations — our travel designers will tailor the itinerary to your interests, pace, and budget.

Visas & Entry Requirements

Most nationalities require a tourist visa (L visa) for China. However, the 144-hour visa-free transit policy covers 54 countries at major entry cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. We recommend checking with your local Chinese embassy or our team for the latest requirements.

Citizens of 54 countries (including US, UK, EU, Australia, Canada) can enter China without a visa for up to 144 hours (6 days) when transiting through certain cities. You must arrive and depart from the same city and stay within the approved region. Our team can help you plan an itinerary that qualifies.

Yes. After booking, we provide a formal invitation letter and detailed itinerary that you can submit with your visa application. For complex cases, we partner with visa agencies who can handle the entire process.

A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date, a completed arrival card (handed out on the plane), hotel booking confirmations, and your tour itinerary. We provide a QR code summary of all key documents before your trip.

On the Ground

We use 5-star international hotels and boutique properties selected for comfort, location, and character. For certain destinations, we offer heritage courtyard hotels and luxury tented camps. All properties are personally inspected by our team.

Most tours are private (just your party) or group tours of 6–10 travelers. We never run large bus tours — every experience is designed for personal attention and flexibility.

All our guides are licensed, English-speaking local experts with at least 5 years of experience. Many have specialist backgrounds — archaeologists, food writers, photographers, and historians — who bring unique depth to your experience.

Vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free, and allergy-specific diets are all accommodated. Just let us know when you book, and we will arrange meals accordingly throughout your trip.

High-speed rail is our default for inter-city travel (comfortable, punctual, and an experience in itself). For longer distances, we book domestic flights. Within cities, private air-conditioned vehicles with professional drivers. All transfers are included.

WiFi is available at all our hotels. For mobile data, we recommend purchasing an eSIM before arrival or renting a portable WiFi device — both options bypass the Great Firewall, so you will have access to Google, WhatsApp, Gmail, Instagram, etc. without needing a VPN.

Safety & Insurance

China is one of the safest countries in the world for travelers, with extremely low rates of violent crime. Our guides are with you throughout the trip, and we have 24/7 emergency support for all our guests.

Yes, we require all travelers to have comprehensive travel insurance covering medical expenses, trip cancellation, and lost luggage. We can recommend trusted providers if you do not already have coverage.

Our guides are trained in first aid and know the nearest international-standard hospitals in every city. We provide a 24/7 emergency phone number reachable on WhatsApp and WeChat. In remote areas, we have pre-arranged medical evacuation protocols.
