Your driver meets you at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport or your hotel with a name sign and helps you check in, then frames the seven days ahead as a walk through the tombs of China's first and greatest dynasties. The rest of the day is free to settle in.

Today's Highlights

  • Meet your private driver at the airport or hotel

Below the wall you step into the Muslim Quarter, where your guide points out lamb skewers, persimmon cakes, and roujiamo flat-bread burgers simmering in open doorways. On to the Great Mosque, founded in 742, whose quiet courtyards and cedar groves mix Arabic and Chinese roof lines across more than twelve centuries.

Today's Highlights

  • Walk or cycle the 14-km Ming city wall
  • Graze the Muslim Quarter's food stalls
  • See the Great Mosque's 1,200-year-old courtyards

Today you travel west across the Wei River plain, about 85 kilometres to Qianling, the only Tang mausoleum shared by two emperors - Emperor Gaozong and the empress Wu Zetian, China's sole female ruler - its Spirit Way lined with stone officials, wards, and horses worn smooth by weather. Your guide explains the unexcavated earthen mound and the inscribed steles, one left famously blank at Wu Zetian's own wish. You continue to Famen Temple, built to hold a finger-bone relic of the Buddha, whose underground palace preserves Tang imperial gold, glass, and silk offerings sealed for over a thousand years.

Today's Highlights

  • Stand on Qianling's Spirit Way of stone guardians
  • Hear the story of China's only female emperor
  • View Tang relics in Famen Temple's palace

You visit Han Yangling, the tomb garden of Emperor Jing of the Han dynasty, who reigned from 157 to 141 BC, where your guide walks you through burial pits holding armless terracotta guards, attendants, and animals made some 150 years after the Qin warrior tradition began; an in-museum glass floor lets you look down on the original excavation hall.

Today's Highlights

  • View Han Yangling's buried clay guards
  • Watch noodles pulled at Yongxingfang food street

FAQ

Common Questions

Is seven days enough to explore Xi’an and its surrounding attractions?

Yes. Seven days provide a comfortable amount of time to explore Xi’an's major historical landmarks while also visiting important sites outside the city. This itinerary combines ancient city attractions, imperial tombs, Buddhist heritage, local food streets, and a full-day excursion to Mount Hua without rushing through every destination.

Are the attractions outside Xi’an city included in the tour?

Yes. Qianling Mausoleum, Famen Temple, Han Yangling Museum, and Mount Hua are all included in the itinerary. Private transportation makes it easier to reach these attractions, many of which are located outside the city center. You can enjoy the visits without having to arrange multiple public transport connections.

Is Mount Hua suitable for travelers who are not experienced hikers?

Mount Hua is a mountainous destination with steep paths, stairs, and uneven sections. However, cable cars can reduce the amount of uphill walking, depending on the route selected. Travelers should have a reasonable level of mobility and be comfortable walking on mountain paths. We can help adjust the visit according to your physical condition and preferred pace.

Can I take a cable car at Mount Hua instead of hiking all the way up?

Yes. Mount Hua has cable car services that allow visitors to avoid some of the steep uphill sections. The North Peak and West Peak cable cars serve different areas of the mountain, so the best option depends on your preferred route, available time, and physical condition. Cable car tickets are generally purchased separately from the entrance ticket unless specified in your package.

What local foods should I try during my travel in Xi’an?

Xi’an is famous for its distinctive local cuisine, influenced by its history along the Silk Road. Popular dishes include Biangbiang noodles, Roujiamo (Chinese-style meat sandwiches), Yangrou Paomo (lamb soup with crumbled flatbread), and Liangpi (cold noodles). Your guide can recommend suitable local restaurants and help with ordering based on your tastes and dietary preferences.

Can the itinerary be customized to suit my interests and travel pace?

Yes. This is a private tour rather than a fixed group departure, so the schedule can be adjusted to suit your interests, pace, and travel arrangements. You can discuss possible changes to sightseeing time, dining stops, or the Mount Hua route with us before the trip.
